Russell Fuller has been the BBC’s tennis correspondent since August 2013 – leading the radio team at Wimbledon and the year’s other main events, and contributing regularly to the BBC’s tennis coverage on both television and online.
In that time, Russell has commentated on Andy Murray’s second Wimbledon title, Roger Federer’s historic win over Rafa Nadal in the 2017 Australian Open final, as well as the end of Britain’s 79 year wait to win the Davis Cup.
Before becoming tennis correspondent, Russell presented a range of news and sport programmes on BBC Radio 5Live, BBC World Service and BBC World TV.

As a host of 5Live Sport, Russell presented from the 2016 Rio Olympics, the 2012 London Paralympics, Champions League and Premier League matches, as well as from test matches, Silverstone and The Derby. Russell’s news commitments include programmes such as Breakfast and Drive.
For 11 years, he presented the World Service’s Saturday afternoon programme SPORTSWORLD. In that time, he had the opportunity to anchor their coverage of 4 Olympic Games and 3 Africa Nations Cup tournaments, as well as South Africa’s 2010 World Cup and Delhi’s 2010 Commonwealth Games. Russell also hosted the World Service’s coverage of Live 8 from Hyde Park in 2005.
Russell has commentated on the Open Golf Championship, the Masters and the Ryder Cup; one day and Twenty20 internationals in cricket; along with canoe sprint at the Rio Olympics and squash at Glasgow’s 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Other television work includes hosting Sport Today on BBC World News and conducting the 18th green interviews for BBC TV at the Open Golf Championship, hosting the BBC’s interactive panel programmes during the 2002 World Cup Finals, and contributed to Football Focus and Match of the Day.
Russell has also been a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, worked as an after-dinner speaker and hosted conferences and round table discussions in places like Westminster, and for organisations such as UK Sport.
Russel continues his BBC radio broadcasting at the French Open and Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024.
